Disneyland has been working to refurbish the Matterhorn ride, which has been closed since the park closed in March 2020 because of the pandemic, SF Gate reports.

  • Disneyland has confirmed the ride is closed, saying on its website: “Matterhorn Bobsleds is currently closed for refurbishment. Please check back here for updates.”

Despite reopening in April, Disneyland has not opened the Matterhorn ride, which is “closed for refurbishment, undergoing what is believed to be a significant repair to the infrastructure of the mountain,” according to SF Gate.

The theory right now is that the ride will undergo changes in phases. Rumors suggested the ride would be raised and rebuilt.

  • To do so, Disneyland would need to close nearby rides and attractions, including the “Alice in Wonderland” ride, according to SF Gate.

The Matterhorn debuted on June 14, 1959, which was about four years after Disneyland opened, according to Inside the Magic.
