Among Us — the popular mobile video game based around a whodunnit mystery — will be expanding to allow more players to play at once.

What is the latest on Among Us?

Innersloth, the developers of Among Us, said over the weekend at the E3 2021 conference that the game will update to include 15-player lobbies beginning on June 15.

New Among Us lobbies

In Among Us, players join together in a lobby and compete in a whodunnit mystery game. Normally, the game will put 10 players together, and two will be selected as imposters, who are tasked with killing others on board.

  • Now, three imposters will be chosen out of 15 players in a single lobby.

New Among Us colors

The company also announced it will add new colors for its character skins — called beans. The new colors include banana, tan, rose, coral, maroon and gray.

As I wrote for the Deseret News, Among Us became a widely popular game during the coronavirus pandemic. The game has had more than 500 million users across the world. This has led to a slow rollout of updates for the developers.

  • “When a game becomes unexpectedly popular it’s great, but it brings a whole slew of other problems we were extremely new to,” the company said in a blog post. “That being said, we’re extremely grateful for all of the success we’ve found.”
