The soundtrack for NBA 2K22 will be unlike any other NBA 2K soundtrack in the past, as it will adapt in real-time with new hit songs.
NBA 2K22 announced Wednesday that it will have a new soundtrack discovery feature, which will update regularly under the new “seasons” feature for the game.
- The season’s feature, which debuted in the NBA 2K21 MyTeam mode, will overtake the entire game, with several game modes changing throughout the year to fit a theme of the season.
Per NBA 2K, the soundtrack will update in real-time as new music will be added to the soundtrack on the first Friday of every new season for the game. These “First Fridays” will allow people to hear newly released songs added to the game.

Why did NBA 2K22 change its soundtrack?
David Kelley, the senior manager of partnerships and licensing at 2K, said in a press release emailed to the Deseret News that the new soundtrack will help implement real-life culture into the game.
- “This year, the opportunity to evolve the experience for players by creating moments where we can debut and share incredible new music is another step toward how we are bringing together the real-world of basketball culture with our game through music, not only through well-known artists but also providing our players an opportunity to get in the game and showcase their own talents,” he said.
Can you record music in NBA 2K22?
And you can apparently record your own music in the game. Per NBA 2K, the game will have a Producer Series feature that will have a “beats pack” that will “create an opportunity for the community to record their best verses over the beats and showcase their talent.”
When does NBA 2K22 come out?
NBA 2K22 will be available on Sept. 10 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms.
