“School of Rock,” a movie where Jack Black poses as a substitute teacher and unlocks kids’ artistic creativity at a stuffy private school by introducing them to the power of rock ‘n’ roll, is inherently heartwarming.

But a rewatch now — more than two decades since its release — may prove to be even more heartwarming for fans of the film, because two of the kids just got married, People reported.

Which ‘School of Rock’ kids got married?

Angelo Massagli and Caitlin Hale met as “School of Rock” co-stars when they were 10, as The New York Times reported. Hale played Marta, a backup singer in her classmates’ band, and Massagli was cast as Frankie, a member of the band’s security.

Even more than 20 years later, Massagli remembers being really impressed by Hale’s audition for the film.

“I remember my first audition for ‘School of Rock’ like it was yesterday,” Massagli previously told Inside Edition Digital. “I get in there and the little blonde girl next to me, she gets called in first and she starts singing show tunes and just blows the roof off the place. It was excellent.”

The kids became close while filming “School of Rock.” They would attend real school together on set and eat lunch and play games with Black in between scenes, according to The New York Times. After filming, the cast stayed in touch over the years — even as Hale and Massagli both left the entertainment industry to pursue other careers.

In somewhat of a full-circle moment, it was education that brought the two former child actors back together.

Following their undergraduate studies, both Hale and Massagli wound up in Florida. Hale was pursuing a bachelor’s of science and a master’s degree in health leadership at Nova Southeastern University, while Massagli was a law student at the University of Miami, as The New York Times reported.

What was supposed to be a lunch to catch up turned into something more. They began dating in 2016, per People.

Their time together on “School of Rock,” they said, provided a solid foundation as they moved forward with their relationship.

“Even though it wasn’t romantic, that familiarity we had and our families had when we were younger, really cut through some of those early relationship hurdles,” Massagli told The New York Times.

“I actually said to one of my close friends, I remember being in an Uber on the way down to Miami one weekend and we were going out and I was like, ‘I think I’m gonna marry this guy,’” Hale added.

After making their marriage official a few months ago, the couple held a wedding celebration in New Jersey on Jan. 4 — and several of their cast members showed up. At one point during the celebration, the “School of Rock” stars danced to Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen,” paying tribute to the film that first brought them together.

Aleisha Allen, who played Alicia in the film, posted about the wedding on social media and also honored her fellow “School of Rock” star Kevin Clark, who played drummer Freddy and died in a bicycle accident in 2021, as Variety reported.

“When you begin your new year with your brothers & sisters from other mommas & misters (missing a few) like time has never passed (with all heartbeats synced to the rhythm of Kev’s drums), to celebrate an amazing love that blossomed from our 20+ year old bond!” Allen shared on Instagram.

Black was unable to attend, but “was so nice and generous with his words,” Hale told The New York Times.

Will there be a ‘School of Rock’ sequel?

The movie industry is big on sequels right now — nine out of the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2024 were continuations of existing franchises, as the Deseret News reported.

But although it has spawned an Andrew Lloyd Webber Broadway musical and a TV series, “School of Rock” has not been remade or turned into a sequel.

“I wish there’d be a ‘School of Rock 2: Electric Boogaloo,’” Jack Black said last year, per The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m ready.

“You know Mike White wrote the first one and he’s a genius,” Black continued. “And we’d have to have Mike White back in the saddle, but he’s real busy right now with ‘White Lotus,’ the best show on TV.”

Black previously told Entertainment Tonight that “School of Rock” was a “highlight” of his career.

“My best memories are just that group of kids, and how funny and great they were,” he said. It’s definitely the highlight of my career, I can say that. Honestly.”
