The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame unveiled its long-awaited list of 14 musical nominees, a mix of icons and pioneers.

Among the artists on the ballot are Joy Division and OutKast. Each nominee stands at the crossroads of recognition. Eight of the 14 artists are first-timers to the nomination process, according to CBS News.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, founded in 1983 by influential figures in the music industry, according to Britannica, stands as a testament to rock’s enduring legacy.

Situated in Cleveland, Ohio, the museum houses the Hall of Fame, where legends are immortalized. To be eligible for nomination, an artist must wait 25 years after their first recording, according to Brittanica.

Every year, 500 rock experts cast their votes, determining who earns the privilege of joining the ranks of music history.
