Due to ongoing health challenges, Dolly Parton has postponed her upcoming Las Vegas residency by nine months.
In a statement posted on social media, the 79-year-old country music icon told fans she needed “a few procedures” to deal with ongoing “health challenges.”
Because of these procedures, she wouldn’t have enough time to rehearse for the six shows, which were scheduled for Dec. 4-13 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
“While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say,” she wrote.
In her statement, she also announced the rescheduled dates would be in September 2026.
She also added that she has no plans to retire: “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.”
The country music legend did not disclose the nature of her health issues, but this announcement comes shortly after she had to pull out of a Dollywood event because of a kidney stone.
The residency will be her first one in Vegas in over 30 years. Current tickets are valid for the new dates and refunds are also available.
Her upcoming shows were expected to mix seven decades of hits such as “9 to 5,” “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You.” The tickets had been sold out for weeks, per The New York Times.
Parton’s statement showed that despite the health challenges, she still hasn’t lost her sense of humor. “It must be time for my 100,000-mile checkup, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!” she wrote.
Earlier this year, Parton’s husband of nearly six decades, Carl Dean, died at age 82, according to CNN.
The singer also has an upcoming biographical musical, “Hello, I’m Dolly,” that she has been working on for almost a decade. It is set to arrive on Broadway in 2026, per The New York Times.
Parton is set to receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in November. The award is an honorary Oscar for her “unwavering dedication to charitable efforts.”
