The Trudeau apple does not fall far from the tree.
Like his father, Pierre Trudeau, who served as Canadian prime minister for 15 years, Justin Trudeau filled the role as Canadian prime minister for 10 years, before his recent resignation.
Now, Justin Trudeau is following in his father’s footsteps once again, with his burgeoning relationship with a female celebrity.
Following his 1984 divorce from Margaret Trudeau — Justin Trudeau’s mother — Pierre Trudeau pursued several high-profile romantic relationships. He dated actresses Margot Kidder and Kim Cattrall, guitarist Liona Boyd and two-time Oscar winner Barbra Streisand.
Justin Trudeau embraced singer-songwriter Katy Perry on the roof of her yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara last week — the intimate moment was captured in photos spread across the internet.
It did not take long for Perry to lightly address rumors of her budding romance with Trudeau.
During her concert at the O2 Arena in London on Monday, Perry told the audience, “London, England, you’re like this on a Monday night after a whole day at work and a whole day at school? No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time … but not anymore.”

She also received a marriage proposal from a fan, which she turned down, saying, “I wish you’d asked me 48 hours ago.”
Perry was previously engaged to English actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a 5-year-old daughter. The pair broke up over the summer.
In response to weeks of ongoing gossip about Perry and Bloom’s fractured relationship, the former couple released a joint statement, claiming they had “been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”
Justin Trudeau and his wife of 18 years, former model and TV host Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, announced plans to divorce in August 2023, per NPR.
Perry-Trudeau relationship rumors date back to late July, when the pair was captured dining together at the restaurant Le Violon in Montreal, per The Guardian. Reports surrounding the pair went mostly quiet until recently. It’s still unclear how they connected or the status of their relationship.
Trudeau’s father, who died in 2000 from prostate cancer, earned a reputation for wooing celebrity women.
In Streisand’s 2023 memoir, “My Name is Barbra,” she detailed her brief romantic relationship and 30-year friendship with the Canadian politician.

“Trudeau was very dapper, intelligent, intense ... kind of a combination of Albert Einstein and Napoleon (only taller). And he was doing important work. I was dazzled,” Streisand writes in the book, per People.
“He was so elegant, yet totally unpretentious and perpetually curious ... an adventurer who had backpacked through the Middle East and Asia as a young man,” she continued. “And he had real charisma, generating so much excitement before and after his election that the Canadian press gave it a name ... Trudeaumania.”
“And it was nice to be with a man who had his own light shining on him, so I could stay in the shadows a bit,” Streisand added.
Streisand dated Trudeau for roughly a year during the late 1960s, but the “What’s Up, Doc?” actress understood the relationship was not meant to last, particularly because of the 23-year age gap between the couple.
But in spite of the perks Trudeau brought to the relationship, the decades-younger Streisand recalled feeling “a bit scared of the intensity of this relationship.”
Streisand soon put a physical divide between herself and Trudeau when she relocated to Los Angeles, and the relationship fizzled.
“He was a captivating combination of contradictions ... an elegant man who was still enough of a free spirit to wear sandals to Parliament,” she said. “But for me, there was something missing. My brain was in love, but not my body.”
