They say good things come in small packages, and this Thanksgiving, Goldfish is doing just that.
After more than a decade away from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the snack is making its big return with The Littlest Float, officially the smallest float to ever appear in the iconic New York holiday celebration.
Measuring just 14 Goldfish crackers long, the miniature float is inspired by the brand’s “Snowy Day” holiday ad and brings to life a whimsical winter world where the fish-shaped crackers sled, skate and build snowmen, the brand detailed in an email to the Deseret News.
“We loved the idea of taking the biggest stage and showing up in the smallest way possible,” said Chase Doutré, group creative director at Mischief At No Fixed Address. “The Littlest Float is a playful wink and an imaginative twist on parade traditions. Though it may be small, we wanted it to feel just as joyful as the beloved snack itself. Just like Goldfish, it reminds everyone that the smallest things can bring the biggest smiles.”
Mike Fanelli, senior director of marketing at Goldfish, echoed the sentiment.
“Goldfish is the fish-shaped snack adored by all ages. There’s no better place to share the smallest snack with the biggest smile than at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” he said. “It’s a joyful reminder that even the tiniest things can bring the greatest joy during the holidays, and we’re honored to share this moment with Goldfish snackers everywhere.”
The Littlest Float will appear as part of the lineup for the 99th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, alongside performances from “KPop Demon Hunters” actors and hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes, as well as floats from LEGO, Lindt and Popcity’s Labubu.
Goldfish crackers were created in Switzerland in the 1950s and were introduced to the United States by Pepperidge Farm founder Margaret Rudkin in 1962. Today, they remain a staple snack in many homes, and now, a tiny star in one of America’s biggest holiday traditions.
