Catherine O’Hara, the award-winning actress and comedian known for her iconic roles in “Schitt’s Creek,” “Home Alone” and “Beetlejuice,” has died at 71, Variety reported.

She died at her home in Los Angeles on Friday following a brief illness, per Variety.

O’Hara was honored in her lengthy career with two Emmy Awards — one in 1982 for the Canadian sketch comedy show “Second City Television,” where she launched her career alongside actors like Eugene Levy, John Candy and Rick Moranis, per The New York Times, and another for lead actress in a comedy series for “Schitt’s Creek” in 2020. Levy also played O’Hara’s husband in “Schitt’s Creek.”

She was also Emmy-nominated for two of her most recent television performances, in the HBO Max series “The Last of Us” and Apple TV’s “The Studio,” per Deadline.

O’Hara, who was born in Toronto, was awarded the Order of Canada in 2017, which is one of the country’s highest honors, according to The New York Times.
