The 14 singers remaining on “American Idol” this season likely entered Monday night’s live episode with more nerves than usual.
After an unexpected delay last week — when “Idol” announced it was too hard to determine in real time which two singers had been eliminated based on viewers’ votes — the singers finally learned the results.
At the start of Monday’s episode, “Idol” revealed that singers Julián Kalel and Jake Thistle didn’t receive enough votes to advance to the top 12 round of the competition.
But that wasn’t the only elimination of the episode.
The top 12 contestants then performed 1990s’ hits — selected by “Idol” judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan — for a shot at the top 11.
Here’s a look at the performances from the top 12 round — and who got eliminated.
