Country star Ella Langley is currently experiencing a blockbuster 2026.

She broke a record previously held by the legendary Mariah Carey for longest running No. 1 song, with her hit “Choosin’ Texas” spending 25 weeks leading the Billboard Hot 100. That song is currently back at the No. 1 spot.

Last year at this time, Langley was just a name on the list for Redwest Music Festival in Utah. This year, she was the main headliner drawing audiences in.

“I’ve wanted to do this thing my whole entire life,” Langley said during her set at Redwest earlier this month. “There hasn’t been a day where I wasn’t daydreaming about what I’m doing right now. By the grace of God, I’m just up here doing it.”

The singer-songwriter is the favorite to win a Grammy Award for best new artist, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She would be the first country act since 2010 to take the crown if she wins the award.

Think pieces have been written about why her hit song “Choosin’ Texas” was the song of summer for 2026. According to the Los Angeles Times, it’s racked up more than half a billion streams on Spotify, and on YouTube, it has more than 100 million streams.

Langley isn’t a one-hit wonder, either. She had another song climb the charts this year — “Be Her” reached No. 3 at its peak at the same time “Choosin Texas” was No. 1.

“This last year has been nuts,” Langley said during Redwest.

As a female country artist, few have managed to tap into the Hot 100’s top club since 2000. She joins the likes of icons like Taylor Swift, Faith Hill and Carrie Underwood for being able to crack a spot on the list.

“It shows you the power of what a song can do. You think we’re just going in there and just having fun with the people we love making music with, and you don’t realize that that could be the song that changes your life forever,” Langley told Country Now. “And so to me, this song just keeps reinforcing that, that every song matters.”

At the 60th Annual CMA Awards, she leads all nominees with nine nods, including entertainer of the year, single of the year and album of the year.

And she already won the award for best new country artist at the 13th annual iHeartRadio Music Awards in March.

The performer is currently wrapping up a sold-out arena tour that took her to multiple cities nationwide.

What is it about Langley that’s resonating with millions of people?

“First and foremost, there is no question that Langley’s rise begins with her talent,” musicologist Jada Watson told Rolling Stone.

“She is an exceptional songwriter, a solid vocalist, and her music clearly resonates with listeners because it feels real and authentic, emotionally honest and almost ‘lived-in.’ But of course, talent alone does not explain why she has inspired a visible, and growing, male fanbase,” she continued. “Langley’s placement blends a kind of understated femininity, openness about her faith, quiet confidence, and songs that both men and women can comfortably see themselves in. The result is an artist whose appeal crosses gender lines in a way that has become uniquely visible.”

Who are Ella Langley’s ‘Ella’s Fellas?’

Langley has managed to build a loyal fanbase full of men who proudly declare themselves “Ella’s Fellas.”

The phenomenon has become so well-known that Langley now sells “Ella’s Fellas” themed merch on her website and at her shows.

Hockey players for the Dallas Stars are among those who count themselves as “Ella’s Fellas,” with a viral post wherein several players proudly declared their fandom for the country star, per Hockey News. Langley followed up by sending the team official merch.

The Atlanta Braves clubhouse is also packed with “Ella Fellas,” utility player Kyle Farmer recently told the “Whiskey Riff Raff” podcast.

A former NFL coach who won a Super Bowl has even claimed to be one of Ella’s Fellas after seeing her perform in Baltimore. Rex Ryan took to X to sing his praises of the artist.

And it’s not just men who are loving Langley’s music. Her appeal reaches a wide audience.

The vice president of music insights and industry relations at the entertainment analytics company Luminate told The Atlantic that when compared with a more general audience, “country fans are extra loyal to the artists they love, playing songs on repeat,” Sophia Nguyen writes.

Who is Ella Langley?

Langley first rose to fame in 2024 with breakthrough hit “You Look Like You Love Me,” which she sings with Riley Green.

Her music video for “You Look Like You Love Me” that involves the cheeky pickup line has amassed more than 100 million views on YouTube.

That confidence and sarcastic aura play into Langley’s performances as well, especially when singing that song.

The 26-year-old originally hails from Hope Hull, Alabama. She attended Auburn University, where she studied forestry and formed a bar band. She dropped out in 2019.

She grew up singing in Southern Baptist churches and was homeschooled until seventh grade.

Music was a crucial part of her childhood, with memories of singing together with her family for the neighborhood for “big jam sessions,” she told Montgomery Advertiser in 2017.

“Nothing made me happier than sitting next to my grandpa on the piano bench, singing ‘Froggy Went A Courtin’,’” Langley said.

After her grandfather’s death at age 14, her dad had his guitar restrung for her, and she “immediately started looking up chords” and taught herself how to play “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley.

Joybeth Taylor, who has co-written several of the singer’s hits, spoke with The Wall Street Journal earlier this year about the singer.

Langley “was always so different from anybody else,” Taylor said. “Her work ethic was just better than anybody’s.”

Her presence on social media is largely focused on promoting her music and her art, but her TikTok account manages to show Langley as a goofy gal with a love for animals.

“Her brand is low-key but also authentic, reflective of what even non-country fans appreciate about the genre. It’s about storytelling and vibes,” Yahoo Entertainment writes.

She released her second studio album “Dandelion” on April 10, to critical and public acclaim.

The album explores themes of self-doubt and heartbreak, as well as wistful dreams of yesteryear and hopes for a romantic future.

Country legend Miranda Lambert collaborated with Langley on multiple tracks for the album, including “Choosin’ Texas.” Lambert also appears in the music video for the song, along with actor Luke Grimes. The duo also have a song together on the album called “Butterfly Season.”

“She brought in an entire vision board for her album,” Lambert said in an email to WSJ. “She knew that it was going to be called ‘Dandelion,’ and she already knew how she wanted it to come together sonically and visually.”

The country star isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

During Redwest, Langley shared how grateful she is to follow her dream and that she plans on touring in 2027.

For Ella’s Fellas and the rest of her fanbase, hopefully that means some new music on the horizon, as well.
