As they wrestled with stress over the 2024 election, rising prices and wars overseas, Bible readers turned to a passage about anxiety for comfort over the past year.

″Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God," reads Philippians 4:6.

The popular Bible app YouVersion just named the passage its verse of the year, explaining that it was the most shared, bookmarked and highlighted Bible quote in its products in 2024.

Philippians 4 was also the most-read Bible chapter on BibleGateway.com, a site that provides easy access to multiple versions of the Bible, according to Christianity Today.

Philippians 4:6 unseated Isaiah 41:10 on YouVersion’s annual list of most popular verses.

That passage was not only the top Bible verse of the year for 2023; it’s been the most engaged with verse on YouVision products for three of the past five years.

Isaiah 41:10 reads, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
