People gathered Tuesday night at Murray Baptist Church for a community candlelight Christmas Eve service to enjoy music, a sermon and to sing Christmas carols together.
The night ended with the lighting of the Advent wreath, then the lights were lowered and candles were lit from one person to another down the pews, all from the Christ candle at the middle of the Advent wreath. Then, the Lord’s Prayer and some final blessings were said by the Pastor Dusty Trent before everyone joined in the singing of “Silent Night.”
Congregants then attempted to protect their candles from the wind as they left the church and carried their lit candles home as a representation of carrying Christ’s love home with them.
