Just over a week ahead of its October 2025 general conference, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provided members and friends with an update of the Salt Lake Temple’s ongoing renovations, as well as a brief report of which areas on and around Temple Square are currently open for guests to visit.
“Renovation of the Salt Lake Temple continues to move forward, with some rooms nearing completion,” the church said in its Friday update. “(The temple’s) preservation and restoration efforts are helping to ensure that the historic building remains a place of holiness for generations to come.”
See below to learn more about the progress renovation crews have made in the Salt Lake Temple’s celestial and sealing rooms, bride’s suite, entrance buildings and assembly room.
In the Salt Lake Temple’s celestial and sealing rooms, painting and finish work has been completed, with bas-relief wallpaper adding “texture and beauty to the spaces.”
“The celestial room’s ceiling and wall finishes have been carefully restored,” the church reported, “and sealing rooms in the north addition now feature historically inspired colors: green in the large rooms, blue in medium rooms and yellow in the smaller rooms.”
Chandeliers resembling those from the late 1800s have also been installed in the sealing rooms.

The bride’s suite
A “welcoming space” in the temple where brides can ready themselves before and after entering the sealing covenant with their husbands, the bride’s suite of the Salt Lake Temple now has new chandeliers and wall sconces, along with painted ceiling medallions reflecting the suite’s original appearance.

Temple entrance buildings
Crews are making progress with the exterior stonework of the temple’s two entrance buildings, according to the church’s report.
And a walking space with planters has also been installed. Once completed, the temple’s two entrance buildings will provide “convenient access” to the temple and a waiting area for temple patrons.
