The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will announce “the reorganization of a new First Presidency” today at 1 p.m. MDT.

“Join us to hear messages from special witnesses of Jesus Christ and learn about the reorganization of a new First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,” a news release states. “This live announcement will be made from Temple Square in Salt Lake City and will be available to the public as it unfolds.”

The church is in the midst of a 17-day apostolic interregnum, which began Sept. 27 with the death of President Russell M. Nelson, its 17th prophet and president.

Based on pattern, practice and precedent, the senior living apostle succeeds the prophet. President Dallin H. Oaks, 93, is the senior living apostle. He has led the church as president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for the past two-and-a-half weeks.
