Temple construction plans are moving forward in Belgium, Samoa, Texas and Oklahoma, with new details released Monday by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
This progress reflects recently called church President Dallin H. Oaks’ commitment to advancing work on the 200 temples announced by the late church President Russell M. Nelson.
“With the large number of temples now in the very earliest phases of planning and construction, it is appropriate that we slow down the announcement of new temples,” said President Oaks at the start of his October 2025 general conference remarks. “Therefore, with the approval of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, we will not announce any new temples at this conference.
“We will now move forward in providing the ordinances of the temple to members of the church throughout the world, including when and where to announce the construction of new temples.”

Church announces groundbreaking date for Belgium’s first temple
The church’s recently reorganized First Presidency announced Monday that a groundbreaking ceremony will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, to dedicate the site and begin the construction of the Brussels Belgium Temple.
Presiding at the ceremony will be Elder Jack N. Gerard, first counselor in the church’s Europe Central Area presidency. He will provide a short message and offer the site’s dedicatory prayer as part of the ceremony’s program. But because the Brussels temple will be built within an existing building — located at Avenue des Arts 52 in Brussels, Belgium — the program will not include its traditional turning of the soil.

Church releases renderings for temples in Oklahoma and Samoa
The church’s Monday update included exterior renderings for the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple and the Savai’i Samoa Temple.
As previously announced, the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple is planned to be a single-story building of approximately 29,600 square feet constructed on a 25.7-acre site located at the northwest corner of 51st Street and 136th East Avenue in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
To be the church’s second operating temple in the state, the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple will help serve the more than 50,000 Latter-day Saints that call the state home.

As for the Savai’i Samoa Temple, it is planned to be a single-story edifice of approximately 29,630 square feet constructed on a 4.6-acre site in Salelologa, Samoa. To be the church’s second operating temple in Samoa, the Savai’i Samoa Temple will help serve the nearly 90,000 Latter-day Saints that call the island nation home.
