In this “season of light and goodwill,” the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shared a message of joy for the birth, life and mission of Jesus Christ.
This message — written by church President Dallin H. Oaks and his counselors, President Henry B. Eyring and President D. Todd Christofferson — was released Wednesday, a couple weeks ahead of the First Presidency’s annual Christmas devotional, and included an invitation to seek Jesus Christ.
“We rejoice in remembering our Savior, Jesus Christ,” the First Presidency wrote in their joint message. “He was born in humble circumstances. Heavenly angels heralded His birth. He preached the gospel of repentance, hope, and everlasting life.
“He opened the eyes of the blind, made the deaf to hear, healed all manner of afflictions, and raised the dead. … Through His sacrifice and infinite Atonement, we can be reconciled with God by obedience and repentance. … We invite you to seek Him and the blessings of His peace. Merry Christmas!”

How to watch the First Presidency’s upcoming Christmas devotional
The First Presidency’s annual Christmas devotional will be broadcast internationally on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.
As per tradition, the devotional will feature Christ-centered messages from the church’s leaders and include music performed by the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square.
Yet unlike years past, this year’s devotional broadcast “will not be a live, ticketed event open to the public,” according to a statement released Nov. 5 on ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Instead, this year’s broadcast will present a prerecorded devotional that has already been taped on the set of the church’s “Savior of the World” production in Salt Lake City.

Individuals, families and friends interested in viewing the broadcast live will be able to access the devotional on the church’s broadcasts page (in 39 languages), YouTube (in 12 languages), Gospel Stream app (in 12 languages) and BYUtv.
Following the live stream, video and audio recordings of the devotional will be stored and available for on-demand viewing on the church’s Gospel Library app in 60 languages.
