The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced funeral services for President Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
President Holland died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at 3:15 a.m. of complications associated with kidney disease. He was 85.
Funeral services will be held in the Tabernacle on Temple Square on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m.
President Dallin H. Oaks will preside at the services, with Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who is a former mission companion of President Holland, conducting, according to a release published on ChurchofJesusChrist.org. The program will include remarks by members of the Holland family. Music will be provided by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.
President Holland will be buried in his hometown of St. George, Utah, next to his late wife, Sister Patricia Terry Holland, who died July 20, 2023.
President Holland will be remembered for the love he shared in nations around the world, where he taught and testified of the reality of Jesus Christ. An educator by profession, he inspired generations with his sermons and social media posts.
In addition to the more than three decades of service as an apostle, President Holland served as a General Authority Seventy, the ninth president of Brigham Young University, commissioner of the Church Educational System and dean of the BYU College of Religious Education.
The Hollands have three children, 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be open to the public, ages 8 and older, according to the release. Seating in the Tabernacle will be available to the public, with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. Admission to the Tabernacle will be on a space available basis. Overflow seating will be made available as appropriate.
The funeral services will be streamed live and available on demand in 38 languages on ChurchofJesusChrist.org and on YouTube in 10 languages, noted with an asterisk:
