Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will be dedicating Cambodia’s first temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sunday, Aug. 30, according to a news release published Monday on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

He will be dedicating the Phnom Penh Cambodia Temple in a dedicatory session to be broadcast and rebroadcast that day to all church units in the area at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

Prior to the temple’s dedication, the Phnom Penh temple will first open its doors to the media on Aug. 12, after which invited guests will tour the building Aug. 13-14.

Starting Aug. 15, guests of all faiths and ages will be welcome to tour the single-story building during a free public open house period that will run every Monday through Saturday until Aug. 22.

“Our need to be in the temple on a regular basis has never been greater,” taught the late President Russell M. Nelson, when he announced the Phnom Penh temple in October 2018. “I plead with you to take a prayerful look at how you spend your time. Invest time in your future and in that of your family.”

The Phnom Penh Cambodia Temple was one of 12 temples President Nelson announced in his second general conference as church president.

The temple then broke ground for construction in September 2021, and as the first Latter-day Saint temple in Cambodia, the Phnom Penh temple will help serve the nation’s more than 17,000 Latter-day Saints, who currently travel to Hong Kong or the Philippines for temple worship.
