Utah Catholics and other people of faith gathered at the Cathedral of the Madeleine on Saturday morning for a prayer of peace event.
Bishop Oscar Solis, leader of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, urged Utahns and all people of good will to heed Pope Leo’s invitation to gather and pray for peace in Iran, Lebanon, and throughout the world.
The event at the Cathedral, the Mother Church of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, held a simultaneous Rosary vigil led by the Holy Father in Rome. According to a press release, the participants processed while praying the Rosary in multiple languages, listening to the words of scripture, imploring God, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for peace to prevail in the world and in every human heart.
Bishop Solis directed all parishes in the diocese to include petitions for peace and for the safety and well-being of migrants to be included in the Prayer of the Faithful at all Masses this weekend.
