Supporters of President Donald Trump were seen harassing Sen. Mitt Romney Tuesday at the Salt Lake City International Airport in a video posted to Twitter that went viral.

In the nearly two minute video posted Tuesday evening, Romney is seen wearing a mask and typing on a laptop while sitting alone at the airport when he is approached by a Trump supporter, who calls him a “disgusting shame.”

The video was posted by the Twitter account Qtah — a mashup of QAnon and the state of Utah.

“Utah Patriots catch Rino (Republican In Name Only) Romney at Salt Lake City international airport! He thinks he’s above his constituents!!! Openly bashing @realDonaldTrump,” the tweet accompanying the video reads.

In the video, an off camera woman walks up to the senator, who asks her to put her mask on a couple times before the woman agrees, saying she will because she wants to “have a chat” with Romney.

“Why aren’t you supporting President Trump?” the woman asks.

Romney responds that there are some things he and Trump agree on.

“Are you going to support him in the fraudulent votes?” the woman asks, referring to Wednesday’s Congressional confirmation of the Electoral College vote.

“To overturn the election?” Romney asks. “No, I’m not.” The senator refers the woman to a statement he released Saturday on efforts to contest the results of the election, which he called “an egregious ploy to reject electors,” that “dangerously threatens our Democratic Republic.”

“We have a Constitution, the Constitutional process is clear,” Romney tells the woman. “I’ll follow the Constitution and I’ll explain all that when we meet in Congress this week.”

The woman continues to confront Romney, telling the senator that he hasn’t been supportive of the president and he was “voted in as a conservative to represent the conservative constituents. Period.”

As the woman raises her voice, Romney folds the laptop and walks away.

“Trump is a juggernaut,” a man off camera says to Romney, “your legacy is nothing.”

“You’re a joke. An absolute joke,” the woman says. “It’s a disgusting shame.”

A man’s voice can be heard saying “you might want to change it,” referring to Romney’s flight.

In another video posted to Twitter on Tuesday night, a group of passengers on the same flight with Romney from Salt Lake City to Washington D.C. can be heard chanting “traitor.”

“Resign, Mitt,” a woman yells.

“We love you Mitt Romney,” another passenger yells. “You’re great, you’re doing awesome.”

The videos, which went viral, received tens of thousands of responses on Twitter on Tuesday evening.

“Just one of the most successful business leaders of his time, former Gov and GOP nominee quietly reading at the airport in the course of his public duties — being harassed by ‘patriots,’” Utah County Commissioner Tanner Ainge tweeted. “Romney deserves more respect than this — yet responds w/ decency & patience.”

“Mitt Romney handled this flawlessly, and nobody outside of your echo chamber thinks this makes you look good,” said Frank Lutz, a political consultant and GOP presidential debate host.

“Mitt Romney loses the 2012 presidential election. Runs for Senate and wins in 2018. Votes to impeach his own party’s president in 2020. Becomes one of the most powerful people in America in 2021. Quite an arc!,” tweeted Yair Rosenberg, a senior writer at the Jewish news magazine The Tablet.

Sports and politics commentator Keith Olbermann tweeted, “Just a reminder, we will not only welcome @MittRomney to the Democratic Party, but if he seeks asylum, I will both apologize to him for 45 minutes and convert to the LDS.”

Some Trump supporters, on the other hand, tweeted approvingly.

Jack Posobiec, an alt-right political activist and One American News Network (OAN) correspondent, said “Romney took a plane full of MAGA supporters and they started grilling him about Burisma” — referring to a Ukrainian gas company and reported ties between the company and Hunter Biden.

“Mitt Romney deserves this,” tweeted Brigitte Gabriel, the founder of ACT! For America, an advocacy group dedicated to combating what it describes as “radical Islam.”
