McDonald’s is shaking up its menu in 2025, with an expansion in value options and other deals.

Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 7, the fast-food chain launched a McValue menu, extended the $5 meal deal’s life on the menu and vowed to provide more local and in-app deals to their customers.

“When it comes to value, we know there’s no one-size-fits-all. We’ve worked closely with our franchisees to create a new platform that will let our customers define value on their own terms,” said Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA, in a statement. “From deals on their personal go-to order to universal favorites like the $5 Meal Deal, we’re excited to give fans more ways to save every time they visit one of our restaurants.”

To herald in the McValue menu, McDonald’s recruited WWE wrestler John Cena as a “Value Champion.”

“I always talk about ‘earning my sunset’ and there’s nothing like heading to McDonald’s after completely crushing your day,” Cena said in a statement. “I’ll admit — it’s tough to choose between some of my favorites sometimes, but now I don’t have to. The fact that fans can mix and match with the new McValue menu to get great deals on the food they love is going to be an absolute game-changer.”

The McValue menu launches after a tough year for McDonald’s

McDonald’s menu updates come in the wake of a financially dry 2024. In July, the fast-food chain announced sales at stores open for at least one year had dropped 1% globally, per CNN.

Then in October, an E. coli outbreak connected to the restaurant resulted in a plummeting value of the company. Shares of McDonald’s (MCD) tanked by roughly 7% in the month following the E. coli outbreak, reported CNN.

Shortly following the outbreak, in November, McDonald’s announced plans to invest $100 million to bring customers back to the restaurant. A majority of that money would go toward the franchises most impacted by the outbreak, McDonald’s said, per The Associated Press.

The McValue menu helps “enhance the broader image of McDonald’s as a value-oriented brand,” David Henkes, a senior principal at Technomic, a food industry research and consulting firm, told CNN.

“Restaurant traffic remains challenged, and this really represents a line of thinking that value will continue to be important to the consumer for the foreseeable future,” Henkes said, per CNN. “Inflation remains elevated, and creating a more structured, long-term value platform tells me that McDonald’s really sees opportunity in doubling down in its focus on budget-oriented consumers.”

Local deals

Along with menu updates, McDonald’s is committed to offering more local deals at franchises across the country.

“As local small business owners, my fellow franchisees and I are always listening to what our customers want from their neighborhood McDonald’s,” Cory Watson, McDonald’s owner/operator and national value chair for 2025, said in a statement. “No matter the city or the state, they’re telling us how important it is for them to find their favorite meals at affordable prices. And we couldn’t agree more.”

“That’s why we’re committed to continuing to serve up great local deals — from special discount pricing on fan-favorite a-la-carte items to unique meal bundles, you can find great prices on iced coffees, soft drinks, cheeseburgers, chicken McNuggets and more. We have great value for everyone, whether you’re a party of one or feeding the whole family.”
