Wednesday is April Fools’ Day, and all sorts of Utah teams, cities, companies and more are joining in on the fun.

The Great Salt Lake

Declining water levels in the Great Salt Lake have sparked urgent concern recently, but there’s no need to worry.

A Facebook post from the Great Salt Lake State Park jokes that park rangers are “hand-pouring freshly harvested, concentrated ‘Lake Stink’ back into the shoreline,” adding, “it’s not a true Utah summer unless you can smell the lake from I-15.”

‘BYUtv Sports Nation’

Co-hosts Spencer Linton and Jarom Jordan report that AJ Dybantsa is staying for another year in Provo, discussing the announcement for nearly two minutes before finally unveiling it as an April Fools’ Day skit.

Technically speaking, however, Dybantsa has not yet announced his decision.

Utah State University

The Aggies leaned into their agricultural roots when they announced their cow-patterned football helmet, and now they’re taking that same pattern to the turf.

The link in the social media post directs users to the song “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley on YouTube.

Well done, Utah State. Well done.

Crumbl

In honor of April Fools’ Day, Crumbl, the cookie company, has genuinely introduced the “Almost Everything Bagel Sandwich Cookie” on its website.

The "Almost Everything Bagel Sandwich Cookie" from Crumbl, described on the company's website as two, thin buttery cookies rolled in an almost everything bagel mixture, sandwiching a light cream cheese topping

Salt Lake City International Airport

The airport embraced the trend by humorously announcing that select water refill stations will now offer complimentary dirty soda, nodding to Utah’s craze.

Who wouldn’t want a dirty soda while waiting for their flight?

Grand County Sheriff’s Office

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office in Moab reports a dinosaur sighting, stating they stopped an “unregistered prehistoric vehicle” for speeding, failing to signal, and lacking proof of insurance from 65 million years ago.

Kaysville Fire Department

The Kaysville Fire Department is reporting an internal incident, which could be described as a “foam fiasco.”

The department invites residents to make the most of the situation by stopping by for a free car wash.

Utah Transit Authority

UTA jokes that with Earth Day later this month, this new initiative, FitRail, will improve both air quality and customer experience.

Planned FitRail features include tandem pedal stations, optional size 15 cycling shoes sponsored by the Utah Jazz, and a weekly leaderboard for top kilowatt generation.

Utah Division of State Parks

There’s a new form of transportation at Antelope Island State Park.

What is Antelope Island’s form of Uber, you ask?

Alta Ski Area

Alta put out an article detailing the discovery of the world’s first hot dog on its premises.

According to the story, German immigrant Frank Glizzy was selling frankfurters as early as 1866 from his butcher shop in the original town of Alta, which predates Charles Feltman of Coney Island.

Syracuse

Syracuse is reporting a whale sighting, equating its rarity to Utah eliminating its summer mosquito issue, while advising residents to eliminate standing water from their yards.

Way to kill two birds with one stone, Syracuse.

Washington

For Washington’s April Fools’ Day joke, the town announced that for a mere $2 million, it would change its name to Dixie City.

“For years, we’ve been called St. George, the St. George Area, or mistaken for Washington County — or even Washington State,” said the city mayor in a fictional quote.

In actuality, the name Dixie originates from the pioneers who settled the St. George area and produced cotton there.

Raising Cane’s

Raising Cane’s, founded in Louisiana and expanding to Utah in 2020 by popular demand, announced a Cane’s sauce-flavored Coke, a combination that’s really grossing me out just thinking about it.

Fortunately, its an April Fools’ joke.

Here’s the video:

Kansas City Chiefs

Andy Reid, head coach and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was the target of the Chiefs’ April Fools’ Day prank.

I’m honestly kind of sad this isn’t real because I’d actually buy one.
