The U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on Feb. 28 in what President Donald Trump said was an effort to destroy the country’s military capabilities and eliminate the threat of a nuclear weapon. Trump projected the operation to last four to five weeks, but said it could go on longer.

“Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime,” Trump said in a video announcing “major combat operations.”
