As the cold winter air moves in, so does the smog. It’s not new information that the Salt Lake region suffers some of the worst health effects relating to air pollution.

Have you heard that communities in Utah have the opportunity to achieve 100% clean renewable energy? When the Community Renewable Energy Act (HB411) passed, it allowed local governments to adopt a resolution by Dec. 31, 2019, with a goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030.

Thanks to HB411, any community in Utah served by Rocky Mountain Power has the opportunity to meet this renewable energy goal. All municipalities have to do is adopt a resolution saying they “want to commit to 100% renewable energy,” and Rocky Mountain Power will help to get there.

Not sold yet? Well this is a no-risk resolution allowing individuals to opt-out even if their municipality opts in, so there’s no reason not to get all communities on board.

Whether you have love for outdoor recreation, your family, your health or all of the above, cleaning up our air is a vital necessity.
