I stopped at IHOP the other day after going to the doctor’s office for fasting blood work. Several tables over was a group of high school seniors. (Don’t worry: It was lunch time.) I overheard them talking and was quite impressed.

They talked about the election (without getting angry, spouting nonsense or degrading any candidate), calculus (not a specific class but about how calculus could be applied to something), scripture, and of course a new video out by somebody I’d never heard of. While they were loud, they were otherwise respectful, happy and quite intelligent. The quality of their discussions was far higher than most adults.

Young adults like them encourage me — we adults could learn a few things from those kids!
