Sen. Romney received funding for his presidential bid from Donald Trump in 2012. Sen. Romney never declined the funding, but graciously accepted it.
In 2016, Sen. Romney went way out of his way to call President Trump names such as a “fraud” and “phony.”
Yet, when President Trump won the election in November 2016, he actually “considered” Sen. Romney for a secretary of state position, but in the end President Trump decided against it.
Since that time, on several occasions, Sen. Romney has gone out of his way to condemn President Trump when there was no need to do so. Such is the case with Sen. Romney’s vote against President Trump on Feb. 5. The vote was unneeded. It was for mere show, show that the senator carries disdain for President Trump.
Think about this for a moment. If you have disdain or contempt for someone in your neighborhood or church, do you vocalize it, or let it be swallowed up by internalizing it only?
Then came the final insult from Sen. Romney: saying he voted the way he did due to his impartial justice promise to God.
I also believe in the same God, and am also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but my God, if anything, allowed me to feel 180 degrees differently than the senator. Did the senator essentially attempt to give himself an “out” by inferring God was behind his vote? Well, I suppose that judgement will have to be made by “We the People.”
