Smiles, thank-you’s, waves goodbye. Repeat — 7,000 times a day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I’m part of the corps of health care workers and volunteers providing COVID-19 vaccines. It’s the most fulfilling and gratifying experience of my life. Patrons are incredibly thankful to finally receive the vaccine. Although the providers work hard and fast, most of the time there is a line of people waiting their turn. No one complains or is impatient. The relief is visible in the faces of the patrons, and sometimes there are tears of gratitude.

There is so much animosity in our country currently with political, cultural and social differences. People are frustrated with the many parts of their lives that have been negatively affected by the pandemic. To be part of a team working so hard to put an end to this global scourge is an incredible experience. Hundreds of people are coming together in a way I have never seen before. Providing the vaccine is something bigger than any of us individually. It’s synergistic. It’s an honor to be part of this incredible effort.

Join us! Be part of the solution to this national and global problem. Get your vaccine as soon as you can. Encourage your family members and friends to do the same. In the meantime, keep wearing your mask, socially distance and wash your hands. Together we can win the fight against this horrible disease.
