It’s time for Utahns who think they might qualify for some relief on their property taxes to check with their local county tax administrators and get their forms submitted by the end of this month!
Information for both the property owners program and the renters program (deadline Dec 31st) is available at https://tax.utah.gov/relief/circuitbreaker.
With reports of over 60 entities across the state proposing raising property taxes, this statewide program is more valuable and needed than ever. Last year over 43,000 households received relief, and the number will probably increase this year.
Unfortunately, this won’t stop State Sen. Dan McCay (R-Riverton) from making another attempt to destroy the portion of this property tax relief program that helped over 9,400 low-income senior households in 2024. His bill was vetoed by Gov. Cox. Utahns across the state need to rise and stop his misguided attempts to force seniors from their homes.
