Utah stands at a critical energy crossroads, like many other states across the country. The demand for reliable and affordable energy is increasing as a result of emerging industry and population growth, while the supply remains increasingly constricted.

Utah Sen. John Curtis recognizes that the time is now to secure Utah’s energy future. Aside from his work to extend federal tax credits and streamline permitting, he is hosting the Fourth Annual Conservative Climate Summit on Friday, Oct. 17, sparking important conversations about how to promote innovation, modernize the grid and ensure energy reliability for generations to come.

Last year’s summit brought together hundreds of conservatives and energy stakeholders discussing the intersection of conservative values and renewable resources, a conversation that Sen. Curtis continues to lead with commitment and expertise. This year, I’m especially looking forward to hearing from Department of Energy Secretary Chris Wright, whose support for reducing regulatory obstacles to allow for new energy construction is exactly what Utah needs.

These efforts go hand in hand with Governor Cox’s “Operation Gigawatt,” an ambitious strategy to double Utah’s generating capacity over the next 10 years. By retaining existing energy resources, deploying new strategies, and investing in cutting-edge research and innovation, Utah will be cemented on the map as a nationwide and worldwide energy leader.
