Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was hospitalized in Luxembourg on Friday after sustaining an injury during a bipartisan congressional delegation visit.

A spokesperson for the 84-year-old politician said Pelosi was continuing her work in the hospital, where she is being given “excellent” medical care, according to CNN.

“While traveling with a bipartisan Congressional delegation in Luxembourg to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation,” Ian Krager said.

“She continues to work and regrets that she is unable to attend the remainder of the CODEL engagements to honor the courage of our servicemembers during one of the greatest acts of American heroism in our nation’s history,” he added, noting that Pelosi was looking forward to returning to the U.S.

Pelosi sustained her injuries from a hard fall while going down a marble staircase at the Grand Ducal Palace, The New York Times reported.

She was there with fellow members of the U.S. House and Senate. Krager said her injuries have caused her to miss the remainder of her trip itinerary.

Photos posted on the Grand Duke of Luxembourg’s social media show that the U.S. lawmakers met with him on Friday as part of their trip.
