The sister-in-law of former Utah Sen. Mitt Romney was found dead in a suburb of Los Angeles on Friday evening, according to local law enforcement officials.

The body of Carrie Romney, 64, was found next to a parking garage, although it’s not clear if she had fallen or jumped from the structure, according to ABC News. An investigation into her death is ongoing, although initial reports do not suspect any foul play.

As of Monday night, Carrie Romney’s cause of death was listed as “pending” by the Los Angeles medical examiner’s office. Those results are expected to be changed once toxicology test results are in.

Romney responded to the news on Monday, telling People.com he was “heartbroken” by the news.

“Our family is heartbroken by the loss of Carrie, who brought warmth and love to all our lives,” Romney said in a statement to the outlet on Monday. “We ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
