During Thursday’s broadcast of “The View,” one of its hosts, Whoopi Goldberg, shocked her live audience when she announced a conservative politician was going to be a guest on the show next week.

During a discussion about the government shutdown, which is heading toward becoming the longest in American history, Goldberg said that some politicians are “starting to remember” the constituents who voted them into office and who are being affected by the closure of the federal government.

“They’re starting to remember why they’re there, because you don’t get there without people putting you there, and remembering that those same people can pull you out of there,” she said, adding that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., would be joining the show on Nov. 4.

“I don’t know how many things we agree on, but I know one thing that she and I and all of us at this table agree on is that this should not be affecting the American people,” Goldberg continued.

After the announcement on the show, Greene posted on X that she looked forward to joining the ABC daytime talk show.

In a separate post, she criticized her fellow Republican lawmakers for “attacking” her for going on shows with left-leaning hosts.

“There are pathetic Republican men (mostly paid social media influencers) attacking me for going on Bill Maher’s show and The View,” she said. “Nothing has changed about me, I’m 1,000,000% America ONLY. Sorry I’m not sorry I don’t obey Republican men’s demands that I, as a woman, don’t remain seen but not heard.”

Greene: ‘The Uniparty Swamp is always in control’

Her debut on the talk show comes at a time when tensions are continuing to escalate over the government shutdown.

Greene has become increasingly at odds with her own political party, specifically over the Republican leadership’s inability to deliver an affordable health care plan.

Earlier this week, she posted on social media that the American people gave Republicans majority control of the White House, the House and the Senate, thus placing the brunt of responsibility for fixing the shutdown on them.

“I’m disgusted that our own party isn’t fixing Obamacare, saving Social Security, or actually solving problems,” she said. “The American people are our customers, and we owe them results!!! I’m not going to sit back and watch weak leadership squander the opportunity we fought so hard to win.”

Republicans turn up the heat on Democrats as shutdown talks continue

Both sides of congressional leadership are continuing to place blame on the other party.

“On Saturday, things are going to become very dark,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said on Thursday, referring to the anticipated setback in SNAP funding that could leave millions of Americans without food assistance starting this weekend. “There is one way out of this, the easy way, the obvious way, and that is for the Democrats to do their job and vote for this nonpartisan funding measure so that we can turn everything back on.”

On the other end of the aisle, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., has been posting on social media that “Democrats are fighting to protect SNAP and save healthcare. It’s time for House Republicans to end their five-week vacation and reopen the government.”

In a separate X post, he went as far as to say that “Republicans want to starve children to pressure Democrats into gutting healthcare.”

Greene blames both parties.

Referring to the high cost of health insurance in a post on Friday, she called it a health care crisis and said Democrats started the problem and Republicans never solved it.

“The Uniparty Swamp is always in control, no matter how you vote, and the American people pay the price. Literally!” Greene said.
