The latest weekly fuel report from AAA shows both national and state increases in gas prices.
On Thursday, the national average sat at $3.25, but jumped to $3.32 as of Friday afternoon.
In total, the national average has increased by 34 cents after sitting at $2.98 last week.
No doubt a major contributor to the rising prices is the war with Iran, but President Donald Trump said in a recent interview, “they’ll drop very rapidly when this is over,” as reported by USA Today.
Utah has also seen gas prices increase over the last week, from $2.78 to $2.98, a 20-cent increase, according to the AAA Mountain West release.
Still, at $2.98, Utah is just outside the top 10 least expensive gasoline markets in the country.
The report also included fuel prices around the state.
- Logan and Ogden: $2.95
- Salt Lake City: $2.96
- Provo-Orem: $2.97
- St. George: $2.99
California ($4.90), Washington ($4.49) and Hawaii ($4.44) have the highest state gas price averages, according to AAA.
