Former Ute offensive guard Chris Kemoeatu is apparently a loyal guy.
Now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and an unrestricted free agent, he agreed to a five-year, $20 million contract with the Steelers, this week. That despite the fact the New York Jets were offering more money.
But they didn't have Super Bowl rings like the Steelers.
Interestingly, the man who steered Kemoeatu toward re-signing was his agent Ken Vierra - a former University of Utah quarterback. Vierra played at Utah in 1981 and 1982 before transferring to Maryland. Another client of Vierra is Barry Sims, the former Ute tackle.
Vierra, according to published reports, was the key in getting Kemoeatu to re-sign with the Steelers, at times calling the Steelers to keep talks alive.
Vierra's father played for the Ute football team in the 1950s.
