Even at the end of his career, when Hot Rod Hundleys eyes and memory werent what they once were, he was still a big part of the show.
He never showed up at EnergySolutions Arena, a.k.a. the Delta Center, without signing autographs; never walked in the pressroom without someone stopping him to talk. Stockton. Malone. Sloan. And Hot Rod the Big Four of the Jazzs glory years.
Fans loved Jerry Sloan for his work ethic and passion. They loved John Stockton and Karl Malone for the same things, as well as their on-court brilliance. And they loved Hot Rod, who passed away on Saturday, because he brought it all home.
He was as much of the show as the players and coaches. As was much a part of families as a good piece of furniture, treasured over the years. And just like the furniture, hell be a part of Utah families for generations.
