SALT LAKE CITY — Utah used strong shooting to cruise to a 76-64 victory over Washington State at the Huntsman Center on Saturday.

  • Freshman guard Rylan Jones lit up the Cougars, scoring 24 points on 8 of 10 shooting while making two 3-pointers and hitting 6 of 6 from the free-throw line. He scored nine straight points for Utah late in the second half and added three assists and three rebounds.
  • The Utes (12-7, 3-4 Pac-12) shot 63% from the field, including 68.2% in the second half, while holding Washington State (12-9, 3-5 Pac-12), which led 15-6 early, to 46.4%. Utah also made 14 of 19 free throws, while the Cougars made only 2 of 5.
  • Utah’s offense was efficient, getting 19 assists on 29 made field goals. The Utes also had a 22-7 edge in bench points.
