SALT LAKE CITY — BYU defensive tackle Lorenzo Fauatea announced on Monday that he will miss the rest of the 2020 season with an injury.

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound junior from West Valley had 38 career tackles and 4.5 sacks before sustaining an injury against USTA last week.

In his Instagram post announcing the news, Fauatea wrote, “I have been in my head lately the last couple of days trying to contemplate about my situation. First and foremost I just want to thank my family, fiancée, and loved ones for helping me through hard times like this.

“Due to an injury caused in last weeks game I will be out the remainder of the 2020 season. Thinking about the hard work and sacrifice I’ve put in during the off-season and trying to be an example to the younger generation kids in my hometown is hard. But I know my Heavenly Father has a plan for me. The comeback will be great because even when we down, we up.”
