Perhaps fittingly because it was week 6 of the NFL season, there were six performances from Utah ties that stood above the others during Sunday’s action.
Among them:
- Colts safety Julian Blackmon (Utah and Layton High) again made a late interception, picking off 2020 first overall pick Joe Burrow to thwart Cincinnati’s last attempt to knock off Indianapolis. It was the rookie’s second fourth-quarter interception in three weeks.

- Giants linebacker Kyler Fackrell (Utah State) strip-sacked Washington quarterback Kyle Allen with under four minutes to play in a tie game, and fellow ’backer Tae Crowder picked up the fumble and returned it 43 yards for the go-ahead score in an eventual New York victory.

- Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (Utah) had a second-straight game of 100-plus receiving yards, helping Denver beat New England — his 101 yards came on four receptions and included catches of 41 and 35 yards that came on separate field goal drives.

- Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson (Utah) tipped a pass on the third play from scrimmage that fellow defender Tashaun Gipson Sr. intercepted, setting up Chicago’s first touchdown. “At the end of the day, it was just a great play by Jaylon first and foremost,” Gipson told the team’s website.

- 49ers linebacker Fred Warner had seven tackles, just one off the team lead, in helping San Francisco snap a two-game skid by beating the NFC West rival Los Angeles Rams.

- Dolphins safety Eric Rowe (Utah) led the team with nine tackles, including seven solo stops, as Miami picked up its second win in a row, this time a 24-0 blanking of AFC East foe New York Jets.

- Jaylon Johnson, CB, Utah: Started at cornerback and had three tackles, including one solo stop and an assisted tackle on a third down play deep in Bears territory short of the line to gain. He also had two pass deflections, one that led to an interception by fellow defender Tashaun Gipson Sr. on the third play of the game and led to a Chicago touchdown.
