On Friday afternoon, an emergency alert rang out on electronic devices around the state of Utah, warning of rising COVID-19 numbers in the state.
The alert noted that masks must be worn in high transmission areas and social gatherings be limited to 10 or fewer people.
In response to asking for clarification following the alert, a BYU spokesperson told the Deseret News the school is within the state’s guidelines and is still planning on allowing 6,000 fans in attendance when the Cougars host Western Kentucky on Halloween night.
BYU hosted fans at LaVell Edwards Stadium for the first time last Saturday when the Cougars beat Texas State 52-14. According to the official game book, there were 6,570 fans in attendance at the game.
