High school girls basketball: Timpview’s balanced effort enough to best Bountiful

Timpview used a balanced offensive effort to edge Bountiful 58-55 in a tight game Friday night in Bountiful.

Delaney Gibb was one of three T-Birds to score in double-figures, leading visiting Timpview with 16 points. Hinemoa Aston added 11 points — and hit a pair of 3-pointers — while Saige Gibb scored 10 for Timpview, which had five players score six or more points.

“Bountiful is such a good basketball squad. They are so athletic, and cause such a matchup problem inside. We struggled keeping them off the offensive glass in the first half, but when it got tight late in the second half, we rebounded much better. Those extra possessions ended up being the difference,” said Timpview coach Aimee Dorais.

Gibb did a great job through the game of pushing the pace for Timpview as Dorais tried to get Bountiful to play at a faster pace than it prefers.

“It’s so early in the season, but I’m so pleased with where our team is currently. There were many early season mistakes, but they played with postseason effort,” said Dorais.

Emrie Satuala led all scorers with 22 points in a losing effort for Bountiful.
