Former BYU quarterback Taysom Hill has had quite a few moments in starring roles this year. He became a father for the first time in August, then made his first NFL start at signal-caller in November for the New Orleans Saints (he ultimately started four games as Drew Brees recovered from injury).

On Tuesday, the Saints’ utility man showed off his versatility in another way, as he starred in a commercial for Idaho Potatoes during college football’s Famous Idaho Potato Bowl between the Nevada Wolf Pack and Tulane Green Wave on ESPN.

Truth be told, “starred” is probably overselling it, as the Idaho native delivered his lines from a couch without much fanfare, although that gave the commercial some humor.

The entire script of the 15-second bit, which ended with Hill holding up a big spud: “Hi, I’m Taysom Hill. A lot of people know me as one of the most versatile players in football, but those who know me well know I’m also a dad and husband. Truth is, I’m more than that. I’m a spokesperson for Idaho Potatoes.”
