Heading into the season, many believe Herriman will be one of the top challengers to preseason favorite Fremont, and it backed up those lofty expectations with a strong opening night win on Thursday.
With East-transfer Lealani Falatea leading the way with 17 points, Herriman pulled away from visiting Lone Peak in the fourth quarter for the 55-49 victory.

Lexi Jensen added 12 points for the Mustangs, with Ainzlee Enger chipping in with 11.
The game was tied heading into the fourth quarter, but the Mustangs used a 10-0 run during the quarter to open up a 12-point lead as it tips off the season 1-0.
