On the heels of an outing last Thursday in which he tallied 15 points, 10 rebounds and a whopping eight blocks, University of Utah big man Branden Carlson was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Monday.

The Bingham High product followed that performance against Stanford up with seven points, a rebound and a block against Cal on Saturday.

Utah won both contests.

For the season, the 7-foot Carlson is averaging 6.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

Carlson’s teammate, point guard Rylan Jones, won conference Freshman of the Week honors on Jan. 27.
