SALT LAKE CITY — Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said it was awesome to see his son Alex Whittingham be part of a Super Bowl championship. Alex Whittingham is a defensive quality control assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 last weekend in the NFL championship game.
“A great experience. I’m so happy for him,” Kyle Whittingham said. “So happy for Andy (Reid) and there’s other guys on the staff that I’ve become acquainted with and I couldn’t be more excited for those guys.”
Kyle Whittingham noted that he and 14 other members of the family were on hand for the Super Bowl in Miami Gardens, Florida.
“There was a lot of us,” said Kyle Whittingham, who acknowledged that he was proud of his son. “I told him he better enjoy this and soak it in because it just doesn’t happen every year. I mean, there’s a lot of hard work and some guys coach in that league for 20 years and never sniff the Super Bowl, let alone go to one and win it.”
