SALT LAKE CITY — Utah improved to 10-1 at home this season with a convincing 60-45 victory over California on Saturday at the Huntsman Center.

Here are three takeaways that defined the game:

  • The Utes (14-9, 5-6 Pac-12) were suffocating on defense, forcing 17 turnovers and holding Cal (10-13, 4-6 Pac-12) to 32% shooting from the field, with the Golden Bears’ last field goal coming with 5:41 to play. Utah, meanwhile, shot 45.3% and hit 5 of 7 shots from the floor during a stretch late in the second to push its lead from 8 to 19 points.

  • Timmy Allen paced the Utes’ offense with 21 points while adding four rebounds and two assists. Eight Utah players scored at least four points in the contest.
  • Cal’s leading scorer Matt Bradley, who averages 17.8 points per game, was held to four points on 2 of 5 shooting in the first half, with two fouls and three turnovers in the opening 20 minutes. He finished with 13 points on 5 of 13 shooting.
