SALT LAKE CITY — If you’re a Jazz fan looking for some new content and a way to stay connected to the team, there’s a new podcast that’s right up your alley.

On Thursday Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles, along with his wife Renae, and Jazz digital writer Aaron Falk released the first episode of a new podcast, Ingles Insight.

The podcast, available through iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and Stitcher, aims to give insight to what goes on behind the scenes for an NBA player and to have on interesting guests that can tell stories that will both interest the Ingles’ and the audience.

“It’s really your show, me and Aaron are your sidekicks really,” Joe Ingles jokes to Renae Ingles in the opening minutes of the episode.

Joe Ingles explained that he’s been a guest on many podcasts in addition to doing a radio show on 1280 AM and that he enjoys the medium, which is partially the reason for deciding to do the show.

The episode features Joe and Renae Ingles and Falk all asking each other questions about themselves, with Renae promising the listeners that they will get to know the real Joe Ingles throughout the podcast.

“I knew, as silly as it sounds, that I was never going to be the best player on any team. I knew my role and what I was good at and what I wasn’t good at. I was very in touch with reality.” — Joe Ingles

The first question Renae Ingles poses to the other two is regarding what drives them in life.

Joe Ingles says that after having children, things have changed for him. He now is driven by wanting to be the best father and husband and provide a life for his family that is safe and secure.

Prior to having children though, Joe Ingles said that he was driven not only by money but also just trying to be the best basketball player he could while also understanding his limitations as an athlete.

“I knew, as silly as it sounds, that I was never going to be the best player on any team,” Joe Ingles said. “I knew my role and what I was good at and what I wasn’t good at. I was very in touch with reality.”

Renae Ingles laughs saying that this is probably the first time that anyone has ever heard Joe Ingles say that he isn’t the best at something.

Renae Ingles, who played netball professionally for 17 years, then talks about what it was like retiring for the first time when she was pregnant with the couple’s twins, returning to netball and then retiring again.

The Ingles, whose son is autistic, said that they will continue to touch on that aspect of their life and have guests that will speak about autism.

The podcast is sure to cover a wide range of topics including their life in Utah and life as professional athletes, as well as topics that relate to whatever their guests are involved in.

“We’re going to aim at answering all your questions and more,” Renae Ingles said. “We’re going to have obviously the three of us, we want to chat about our experiences, our struggles, our strategies, maybe the odd parenting hack here or there and hopefully we can get some inspiring guest stories.”

There is sure to be some levity and humor involved as the episode opened with Falk trying Vegemite, an infamous Australian yeast-based food spread. Falk’s rating: “Not bad.”
