Kobe Bryant could be on the cover of the NBA 2K21 video game, his friend Shaquille O’Neal said this week.
What’s going on:
- O’Neal — who teamed with Bryant on the Los Angeles Lakers, winning three NBA titles — told Heavy.com that he would like to see Kobe Bryant on the cover of the annual NBA video game.
- O’Neal said: “Yeah. There is going to be Kobe (edition). You don’t even have to worry about that. Definitely going to be Kobe. And I don’t know what they’re going to do with the money, but they’re going to do the right thing. Kobe’s family does the right thing.”
- Of course, O’Neal doesn’t work for 2K so we have to take this with a grain of salt.
When is the announcement?
- According to Forbes, NBA 2K often announces the cover in June or July. But a Dwyane Wade cover leaked in May.
- However: “We’re likely two months or so away from an official announcement, and depending on how long retail stores are shut down across the country due to COVID-19, the seemingly inevitable annual leaks may even be slowed,” according to Forbes.
Previous Kobe Bryant cover
- Kobe Bryant previously appeared on the cover of NBA 2K17 since it was his final year in the league, according to Bleacher Report.
