LOGAN — Dominik Eberle is the best kicker in Utah State history.

A two-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist — he was a finalist as a sophomore in 2017 — Eberle is an NFL-caliber kicker too.

“He has the ability,” Utah State co-defensive coordinator Stacy Collins said. “The toughest part about the NFL is there are only 32 of those jobs. Dom has the ability and he will get a shot, and I know he will make the most of that shot.”

Eberle holds an impressive array of records at Utah State, as well as in the Mountain West Conference and the NCAA.

He set eight school records in his career, with 359 points scored, 8.34 points scored per game, 64 made field goals, 167 extra points made and 167 extra points attempted. He ranks second all-time in school history with a made field goal percentage of 79% and is the only Aggie kicker to make four or more 50-yard field goals in a career (52, 51, 51, 51).

He also holds six single-season school records, seven Mountain West records and is tied for two NCAA records.

Eberle was ready at a moment’s notice throughout his career, and in a win over Fresno State this past season he made the first game-winning field goal for Utah State since 1998.

Eberle hit 64 of 81 field goal attempts in his career and was 19 of 28 from 40 to 49 yards out and 4 of 7 from 50-plus yards. He never missed a point after attempt.

“He’s prepared for those moments,” Utah State head coach Gary Andersen said. “He’s trained. He’s been through a lot of football games. He knows how to keep himself in the moment. It can happen at any time.”

A native of Nuremberg, Germany, Eberle grew up playing soccer and participated in German national team camps until his family moved to California, where he took up football.

With range up to 60 yards, Eberle has his sights set on the NFL.

“That is what I am going to train for,” Eberle said. “That is what I am set on. I am fully aware of my capabilities and I think I can be one of those 32 guys, and I am going to give it my best shot.”
