Michael Jordan took filming of “The Last Dance” off the home court.

“The Last Dance” director Jason Hehir recently told Insider that Jordan refused to let the documentary film crew interview him from his home.

Instead, they filmed from three different houses — one that was rented for production, and two others that were the homes of friends of the production.

Jordan refused to be filmed on his plane, too, as he took a trip for a meeting with Nike.

“There are certain aspects of his life that he wants to keep private,” Hehir told Insider.

So Hehir and the crew rented out houses specifically for production. One has an ocean view in the background, while the other holds a large white wall.

“I looked for places that seemed like Michael might live in,” Hehir told Insider. “I knew what his real house looked like and I knew this is a wealthy guy who has certain tastes, so we wanted something to match that.”

Jordan’s home is located in Jupiter, Florida, at The Bear’s Club golf course resort, a gated community that includes a massive golf course.

This recent reveal is one of few tidbits that Hehir has revealed about “The Last Dance” documentary in recent days. As I wrote for the Deseret News, he said on “The Dan Patrick Show” that Utah Jazz legend John Stockton was reluctant to appear in the ESPN documentary on Jordan because it was a “Michael Jordan puff piece.”

“I had never heard John Stockton’s voice. I’d never heard it, he’s so reticent, he could have sounded like Scottie Pippen or he could have sounded like my mom. I had no idea what he was going to sound like,” Hehir said.

The director also revealed that Kobe Bryant was a difficult to person to interview, as I wrote for the Deseret News.

“I had to work hard,” he said, “which was unusual in this process because normally people are ready to sit down and heap praise on Michael.”
